How to program your PS2 combo reader
(Combination Barcode / Credit Card Reader)
You must use an external keyboard to program this style of scanner. You will plug the scanner into the keyboard port on the PC, then plug keyboard connection into the Y cable. (Please see "Installing A PS2 Interface Barcode/CC Reader" for more information on setting up your scanner.)
You need to use all capitals, so make sure the Caps Lock ('A') light is lit on the PC. You may have to press the Caps Lock button on and off several times, ending it "on".
***Close all programs including QuikCheK before beginning***
Open notepad ( Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Notepad ). Each line is to be typed into notepad, when you see <Enter>, press the Enter key.
NOTE: YOU MUST WAIT APPROXIMATELY 3 SECONDS BETWEEN ENTERING EACH LINE, OR
ELSE IT WILL BE TOO FAST FOR THE READER TO PROGRAM.

To test the combo reader:
Open notepad.
Click format, and make sure Word Wrap is NOT checked. If it is, click on word wrap to uncheck it.
To test if the barcode settings are programmed correctly, when you swipe in a keytag, the barcode number on the keytag should be enclosed with tildes (~). If this is not the case, try again starting from the first line of code.
To test if the credit card settings are programmed correctly, when you swipe in a credit card, the text pulled into the document should look something like this:
