How to program your PS2 credit card reader

You must use an external keyboard to program this style of scanner. You will plug the scanner into the keyboard port on the PC, then plug keyboard connection into the Y cable. (Please see "Installing A PS2 Interface Barcode/CC Reader" for more information on setting up your scanner.)

You need to use all lower case letters, so make sure the Caps Lock ('A') light is off. You may have to press the Caps Lock button on and off several times, ending it "off".

Open notepad ( Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Notepad )Each line is to be typed into Notepad, when you see <Enter>, press the Enter key. When you see <space>, press the spacebar to insert a space.

NOTE: YOU MUST WAIT APPROXIMATELY 3 SECONDS BETWEEN ENTERING EACH LINE, OR ELSE IT WILL BE TOO FAST FOR THE READER TO PROGRAM.

To program your credit card reader, type the following:

/e/d/fn<Enter>

/e/d/fq<space>\nul

/e/d/fb<space>3<Enter>

/e/d/fc<space>~<Enter>.

/e/d/fd<space>~<Enter>.

To test if the credit card settings are programmed correctly, when you swipe in a credit card, the text pulled into the document should look something like this, except it should all be on one line:
