My scanner isn't working properly
If you have QuikCheK / QuikCheK Pro version 7.1 or above, follow A)
If you have QuikCheK / QuikCheK Pro version 7.0 or older, follow B)
A) QuikCheK 7.1 or above
When you swipe a barcode / credit card you get a message saying "Please Swipe Again. The first swipe needs focus on QuikCheK." QuikCheK then appears to freeze.
In Version 7.1 of QuikCheK, programming was improved in QuikCheK and the reset scanner function was removed. Barcode and Credit Card readers will no longer
need to be "reset" several times throughout the day. However, in 7.1 you must swipe either a barcode or credit card through your scanner(s) as soon as QuikCheK loads.
***POS SCREEN***
If you get the "Please Swipe Again" 'error' message in POS, follow these steps:
1) Press OK to the message.
2) Hold down Alt and press & release the Tab key until the blue square highlights the QuikCheK logo, then release Alt.
3) Press Cancel to the "Enter Credit Card Information" window.
4) Swipe a Credit Card on the POS screen - you won't see anything, but your reader should beep.
5) Click on the Credit Card button, and swipe the card again. All of the appropriate information should fill in properly.
You should not have to go through these steps for the rest of your QuikCheK session. To prevent this from happening again, remember to swipe a credit card as soon as you open QuikCheK. This swipe 'calibrates' the scanner before it can be used. Do this each time you load QuikCheK.
***Toolbox => Enter Barcode***
If you get the "Please Swipe Again" 'error' message after going to Toolbox -> Enter Barcode, follow these steps:
1) Press OK to the message.
2) Hold down Alt and press & release the Tab key until the blue square highlights the QuikCheK logo, then release Alt.
3) Press Cancel to the "Enter Barcode" window.
4) Swipe a Barcode on the Member Screen - you won't see anything, but your reader should beep.
5) Click on Toolbox, and then Enter Barcode. Swipe the barcode as you normally would. You should not have to go through these steps for the rest of your QuikCheK session. To prevent this from happening again, remember to swipe a credit card as soon as you open QuikCheK. This swipe 'calibrates' the scanner before it can be used. Do this each time you load QuikCheK.
B) QuikCheK 7.0 or older
The same member keeps coming up when you scan a membership card. Whenever Microsoft Windows does an automatic update it will blow out your scanner. We recommend turning off Windows updates on your check-in computer. If you try the instructions below and get his message, " cannot write to C:\QuikChek\config\frontdesk1.ini". That means someone deleted the "config" folder from that computer. Double click My Computer, double click your Quikchek folder, then click File -New - Folder and rename the New Folder to Config. Then try the scanner fix again.
If your barcode scanner isn't working properly follow these instructions.
Go to the Check-in screen
Click Toolbox - Reset Scanner
Scan a Barcode or Keytag
Click Save
Exit QuikCheK then login again, your scanner should work fine.
If your Credit Card Scanner isn't working properly follow these instructions.
Go to the POS screen
Click Toolbox - Reset Scanner
Scan a Credit Card
Click Save
Exit QuikCheK then login again, your scanner should work fine.
If your Keypad isn't working properly follow these instructions.
Go to the Check-in screen
Click Toolbox - Reset Scanner
Type 1-2-3 then press Enter on the Keypad(not your keyboard)
Click Save
Exit QuikCheK then login again, your scanner should work fine.
